Walter Fox was born in Miami, Florida on January 20, 1919. After graduating from the University of Florida he enlisted in the Navy on March 11, 1942. Walter served until October 15, 1945. He again served his country in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. Before leaving Service he obtained the rank of Lt. Commander.
During his service he was stationed on two aircraft carriers, the USS Wasp, and the USS Chenango. Walter served in the South Pacific and in Washington D.C.
He received numerous awards and citations during his service years. After leaving the service he became a research chemist at U.S. Steel, eventually retiring from that company.
Since he was deceased at the time of this interview, his daughter Charlotte Luttrell relayed his history.
